Possessing a hint of green in its medium yellow color, the 2016 Saint-Péray Pur Blanc is unquestionably the finest wine I've tasted from this appellation. Buttered citrus, currants, honeysuckle, white flowers and hints of minerality all flow to a pure, full-bodied, elegant white that has fine tannin, sensational purity and a saline-like minerality on the finish. Anyone doubting this terroir is capable of making great, world-class wines needs to taste this cuvee!

Light brilliant yellow. A powerful, highly complex bouquet evokes fresh citrus and pit fruits, along with suggestions of saffron, chamomile, jasmine and smoky minerals. Juicy, penetrating and pure on the palate, offering intense, mineral-laced tangerine, pear and honeysuckle flavors that deepen and spread out with air. The mineral and floral notes drive an extremely long, incisive finish that leaves a suave floral note behind.

From a 100-year-old vineyard planted to Marsanne (Robert admits there may be a few stray Roussanne vines in the mix), the barrel-fermented 2016 Saint Peray Pur Blanc shows exotic, tropical fruit notes of guava and melon, plus hints of toasted marshmallow and grilled pear. This full-bodied, rich white is drinking well already.
