Score 95/100 · Drink 2021-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2022

Derived entirely from the 2016 vintage, Chartogne's NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs Orizeaux was disgorged in May 2021 with three grams per liter dosage. Bursting with aromas of mirabelle plums, almond paste, fresh pastry and orange oil, it's medium to full-bodied, pillowy and vinous, with a fleshy core of fruit, racy acids and a long, electric finish. This has turned out brilliantly.

Based on 2011, the NV Orizeaux Extra Brut is 100% Pinot Noir from a vineyard planted in 1961 on sandy chalk soils. The wine shows earthy flavors on the nose and is rich, but also very firm. In fact, it is a bit austere in the grippy finish. No score given.

100% Pinot Noir planted in the 1950s, mostly 2007. Pale greenish gold. Broad and punchy and pungent. Still quite youthful. Almost rudely healthy. Exuberant. (JR)
