Tasting notes
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Elysian shows just how alluring the Myriad Cabernets can be. Exceptionally persistent and finessed on the palate, the Elysian captures all the qualities that make Dr. Crane Cabernets so compelling, starting with a range of perfumed, floral aromatics. Silky, soft tannins and brilliant, red-toned fruit add character to this impeccably crafted, sublime Cabernet from Mike Smith and Myriad.

The flagship is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Elysian and it's a barrel selection made by Mike chosen with the goal of the most seamless expression of the vineyard. It offers insane notes of crème de cassis, licorice, blackberries, violets and hints of toasty oak. Full-bodied, beautifully balanced, ultra-fine and pure, with terrific tannin, it's another great, great wine from Mike that's going to evolve for 25+ years. Winemaker Mike Smith releases both a bevy of Syrahs and Bordeaux blends under his Myriad label. He’s hit a home run in both 2015 and 2016 and these wines need to be on any wine lover’s radar.
Blueberry and blackberry with hints of lavender and clove on the nose. Medium to full body, firm and velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink in 2020.
Made up entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Elysian opens with cassis, blackberry preserves and incense with touches of cigar box, dried herbs, earth and smoked meat. Full-bodied and tightly wound in the mouth with firm, grainy tannins, the wine has many layers ready to spring and a mineral note on the finish.
