Tasting notes
Côte Rôtie produced some of the most monumental wines of the vintage in the 2015, and Gaillard’s 2015 Côte Rôtie Esprit De Blonde offers a floral, exotic style as well as perfumed notes of blackberries, plums, exotic flowers, and marmalade. Incorporating 5% Viognier and aged in 50% new French oak, this medium to full-bodied, plump, rounded, and incredibly sexy Côte Rôtie can be enjoyed anytime over the coming 10-15 years. Located in the northern part of Saint Joseph, this family-run estate has produced a bevy of high quality, noteworthy wines in both 2016 and 2015. Despite seeing plenty of new oak, I nevertheless find a very traditional style in the wines from Gaillard.

The wonderfully fruity, rounded and medium to full-bodied 2015 Côte Rôtie Esprit de Blonde offers terrific notes of plums, blueberries, peach pit and flowers. Made from 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, all from the steep Le Mollard lieu-dit, it will drink well for 10-15 years.
