Score 87/100 · Drink 2017-2024, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Aug 2017
The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Vaucoupin comes from 1.5 hectares of 35- to 40-year-old vines. It was missing some complexity and terroir expression on the rather anonymous nose. The palate is better, with a smear of honey on the entry and decent acidity, and the finish is simple but with a pleasant tang of marmalade. Gautheron made some delightful 2015s, but the Vaucoupin seems a couple of steps behind the others.
