Score 93/100 · Drink 2023-2044, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, Apr 2023

The 2014 Eric Stevens Purbrick Cabernet Sauvignon leads with a distinct note of roast beef crust. By that, I refer to the bottom of the pan after slow roasting beef: beef broth, fat, peppercorns, roasted herbs, even sweet shallots. In the mouth, the wine is fresh, bright and littered with black cherries and blackberry. There is a thickness and a density to this wine that bodes well for the future. The tannins are firm and yet cushioning, and there is a bramble character here too. This is the first time I have used that descriptor for this wine.
