Tasting notes
Brilliant ruby. Ripe red berries, blood orange, pungent flowers and white pepper on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering sappy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of succulent herbs. I wouldn't have guessed that there was so much Syrah in here. Shows excellent focus and clarity on the long, mineral-laced, gently tannic finish, which leaves a sweet red berry note behind.

Made from a tank aged blend of 70% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvèdre, from a mix of terroirs (bother higher elevation, limestone soils and more clay parcels on the plane), the 2015 Gigondas is a dense, seriously concentrated effort; it has tons of chocolaty black fruits and roasted herb characteristics in a full-bodied, fresh style. It’s going to require patience.
