Tasted again in May 2018 along with the corresponding Graacher Himmelreich Auslese *** the 2016 Riesling Kinheimer Hubertuslay Auslese *** (Golden Capsule) opens with a very clear and floral flavored bouquet intertwined with finest flinty aromas and a generous ripeness but also precision. Fascinating! The palate is generously sweet but elegant, highly finessed and almost weightless in its perfect balance. This fruit is irresistible! Perfectly ripe and healthy raisins, finest Riesling berries from a fastidious selection process. The finish is so incredibly delicious that it is almost impossible to share a bottle: You will most probably have emptied the bottle on your own before you will have realised that your counterpart likes second glass as well. This is so filigreed and utterly balanced that it's nothing but a gorgeous drinking experience. Ripe pears in the aftertaste.

Decadent lily and honeysuckle mingle with pear drops and quince preserves in a heady aromatic effusion. The prominent sweetness of this "three-star" offering is certainly well-suited to its sense of overripeness and botrytization. The feel is viscous and subtly creamy. Hints of cinnamon and pear seed provide welcome counterpoint, and an influx of fresh pear adds even more welcome – not to mention unexpected – animation and primary juiciness on an impressively persistent finish.

This offers a gorgeous nose of candied exotic fruits, quince, apricot, lead pencil and smoke. The wine has quite some ripe fruits on the palate where a creamy side as well as some residual sugar dominate the flavor profile at this early stage. But there is everything to love for those looking for delicately creamy and direct Auslese GK styled dessert wine. Oct 2017, www.moselfinewines.com, Drink: 2024-2041
