Tasting notes
The Bombacher 2015 Sommerhalde Spätburgunder GG offers a clear, pure yet intense and spicy, almost peppery and ethereal bouquet (60% whole clusters) of ripe and skinny cherries and rather red berries. Silky, fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a tight, fresh, straight and almost challenging yet also juicy Pinot that still doesn't have the finesse and elegance of nowadays. The finish is intense, saline and quite grippy yet also a bit drying. Aeration might help here, I thought on the first day, but even four days later, the result was still the same. This is a respectable Pinot with an intense but drying finish. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in late October and early November 2023.

Complex nose of black cherries, pomegranate and herbs with discreet toasty oak. Rich and succulent, perfectly integrated tannins. This already has great balance and a long, elegant finish. Drink or hold.
More fruit than Huber's other 2015s but still with quite dominant acidity. An appetising drink but not the full glory of the variety. Very pinched at this point. It just doesn;t seem as though there is enough fruit to compensate for that tartness. (JR)
