Tasting notes
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru initially has a reductive tincture on the metallic nose, but it dissipates after 20 minutes to reveal gorgeous, pure, almost Rousseau-like fruit that is utterly seductive. The medium-bodied palate is elegant, almost understated, and features attractive red fruit; lovely mineral notes develop on the finish. Two words: great debut. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

This was also an excellent showing for the 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers, an attractive wine that bursts with aromas of peonies, spices, cherries and candied peel. On the palate, it's full-bodied, supple and satiny, with succulent acids, excellent depth and concentration and a long finish. Based on this showing, I'll be paying Magnien a visit in the near future.
