Score 89/100 · Drink 2017-2027, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2016

The 2014 Château Lamothe Cissac has a clean, understated but precise bouquet with black fruit, cigar box and cold stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, fresh and lively with lovely blackberry and cassis fruit infused with minerals on the sustained finish. What a delightful Haut-Médoc! Worth seeking out. Tasted September 2016.

58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc. Perfumed and vanilla scented with the sweetness of blueberries on the nose. Rather less gentle on the palate: firm tannins, more savoury dark flavours and a bit hard on the finish. (JH)
