Deep ruby. Dark berries, violet and black olive on the nose. Taut and spicy on the palate, offering blackberry and bitter cherry flavors and a smoky topnote. Dusty tannins shape the spice-tinged finish, which echoes the cherry note.

Coming from 50-year-old vines and granite soils, the 2014 Saint Joseph Anges offers a beautiful bouquet of ripe black raspberries, spiced meats and dried herbs. This gives way to a rounded, supple, impressively textured and concentrated red that has a terrific mid-palate and plenty of length. It's a rock-solid success in the vintage and will have a decade of longevity.
