From a slightly higher elevation site, the 2014 Bandol La Migoua is an elegant, complex 2014 that offers bright acidity, lots of black cherry and black raspberry fruits, medium-bodied richness and fine, sweet tannin. The acidity would give me pause, yet it has terrific mid-palate depth and surprising concentration, all of which suggest short-term cellaring.

Lighter, fresher nose than the Classique. Very lively product of geological accident with more Cinsault than others at 26%. Roy argues this is ‘feminine’ to Tourtine’s ‘masculine’ but Kermit Lynch says it’s rusticity makes it more masculine. Paysan perhaps. (JR)
