Score 93/100 · Drink 2016-2022, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016

The 2014 Mirando al Sur was produced with the same grapes as the 2013 and followed a similar process. In 2014 Rivière had two Sherry botas, one from Fino and one from Amontillado (the original one used in 2012 and 2013), where the wine matured for one year after being kept in foudre for six months. It feels a lot fresher than the 2013, with an almost citric sensation. This is finer and more elegant, very pleasant and with better balance. This is nuanced and insinuating, really fascinating, but in a completely different style to the 2013; one year in bottle can perhaps make a huge difference. The palate has intense, pungent flavors and great delineation, with freshness and obvious minerality. Really surprising. 1, 200 bottles produced.
