Tasting notes
The purple-colored 2006 Esprit is composed of 34% Mataro, 31% Grenache, 30% Shiraz, and 5% Cinsault. It gives up an attractive perfume of earth notes, truffle, espresso, violets, black cherry, and plum. This leads to a complex, savory, intense wine with excellent depth and balance. Give it 2-3 years to round out and drink it from 2010 to 2018. Importer: Ronnie Sanders, Vine Street Importers, Philadelphia, PA; tel. (215) 533-WINE

(34% mataro, 31% grenache, 30% shiraz and 5% cinsault) Ruby-red. High-pitched red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by musky underbrush and a subtle dark chocolate quality. Weighty and rich yet lively, offering sweet black raspberry and bitter cherry skin flavors and a velvety texture. Balances depth and vivacity with a deft hand, and is built to age.
