Inky ruby. An alluringly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe black and blue fruits, candied licorice, exotic spices and incense, and shows a bright mineral topnote. Stains the palate with intense, spice-laced blackberry, boysenberry and violet pastille flavors that deepen and become sweeter with aeration. Delivers a compelling blend of richness and finesse and finishes extremely long and spicy, with smooth tannins sneaking in late.

Not much nose – just light peppermint. Sweet start and a tad simple compared to its peers. Chewy finish. Box ticking rather than thrilling. (JR)

Inky ruby. Spicy, exotically perfumed aromas of cassis, cherry compote, potpourri and incense are complicated and lifted by a smoky mineral quality. Sappy, sweet and expansive in the mouth, offering deeply concentrated but energetic bitter cherry, blueberry, olive and star anise flavors that deepen on the back half. The floral note comes back strong on a strikingly long, seamless, dark-fruit-driven finish that shows just a hint of harmonious tannins.

Bright violet. Mineral-accented blackberry and blueberry on the highly perfumed nose, complicated by sexy Asian spice and floral notes. Densely packed but energetic dark berry preserve flavors show hints of smoky bacon and candied violet and pick up a spicecake quality with air. Stains the palate and shows superb concentration with no excess weight. Finishes with bright mineral cut, slow-building tannins and superb persistence.
