Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux tasting. The 2012 La Connivence (a micro-cuvée co-owned by former French soccer players) has quite a plush bouquet: floral with redcurrant and strawberry preserve, a hint of sous-bois, gaining more and more intensity with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. Tart cherry fruit on the entry and crisp acidity, a little foursquare but with commendable depth on the glossy finish. Not bad at all considering this is a Pomerol arriviste! Tasted January 2016.

Malet Roquefort’s 1 ha. Tasted blind. Pale ruby. Not much directness of aroma. Thick and tea-leaf aromas. Very chunky. Lots of extraction. Not very graceful. A bit loose overall. (JR)
