Tasting notes
The singe-vineyard Garnacha 2014 La Mujer Cañón was produced with the grapes from a vineyard planted in 1933 in the village of Cadalso de los Vidrios in the province of Madrid, part of the Gredos Mountains. The grapes were harvested after the September rains, quite late. But, there are fennel aromas, something aniseed-like denoting freshness, stones and rockrose, quite captivating. There are some dusty tannins, not as elegant or balanced as Reina de los Deseos. This had a longer élevage and was bottled in June 2016, and the wine is also going to need some more time in bottle to polish that slight rusticity. The vineyard was purchased in 2014, and they implemented some changes in its management (pruning, etc.) that should show in the following vintages. 1,8000 bottles produced.
