Tasting notes
The 2014 Meursault les Forges, which Nicolas Potel told me was touched by hail, has a straightforward bouquet that needs to muster a little more personality. The palate is well balanced, but just a little anonymous compared to the 2012 and 2013, does not really get both hands on delivering Meursault-like character. Not bad, but I prefer other 2014 whites from Nicolas this year.

Bottled the day before I tasted it. South facing over the village opposite Chevalières. Dense and big. Not refined but correct. (JR)

About the producer

Nicolas Potel is one of Burgundy’s most fascinating and talented winemakers. Burgundy born and bred, son of the legendary Gérard Potel (of Domaine de la Pousse d’Or), he sold his eponymous label and today makes wine from his own vineyards under Domaine de Bellene.
