Pale straw-yellow. Musky stone fruits, pear, lemon and a touch of chalk on the nose. Supple, broad, ripe and salty, with white peach and citrus flavors spreading out horizontally to dust the palate. Displays a hint of toast from the 20% new oak component. An easygoing wine for early drinking.

The 2014 Santenay les Charmes Dessus, which comes from ten-year-old vines that usually suffers a little noble rot, has a very attractive bouquet with citrus fruit, dried honey, honeysuckle and candied orange peel scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with a keen line of acidity, fine weight in the mouth segueing into a tightly wound finish that needs a year or two in bottle to find its voice. A bit sullen now, but time will benefit this Santenay and see it through.

Young vines planted in 2004. No bâtonnage. Savoury and lean. Lifted and lively. Crisp and delineated. GV (JR)

Fairly pronounced reduction presently masks the underlying fruit and is sufficient to warrant decanting this if you're going to try a bottle in the immediate future. The supple and relatively forward middle weight flavors ooze a fine minerality on the delicious and vibrant finale that is clean, dry and focused. This is really quite pretty and less rustic than it usually is. Jun 2016, www.burghound.com, Drink: 2018+
