Supple texture, with impressive and enticing depth to the plum colour. Doesn't quite live up to expectations on the paate, this is constricted by the tannins, and the bright blue and black fruits struggle to make their presence felt. A lovely kick of acidity on the finish but lacks generosity at this point. Philippe Guyonneau is owner at this 7ha property, at this point just a few years into the project, as the first vintage came in 2014 - one to watch over the next few years.

Some coffee and caramel here, but also plenty of blackberries and a generous slug of moderately dry tannins, making this a bold wine, yet easy to drink. Lively, dry finish. Drink or hold.
The 2016 La Croix de Pez has a perfumed, almost exotic bouquet with fig and date aromas infusing the red fruit, although it maintains commendable definition and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a little “glossy” in style but with a silky smooth, fairly oaky finish that deserves another two years in bottle. Good potential here. Tasted at the Oenoconseil tasting room in Bordeaux.
