The 2016 de Braude feels a little volatile on the nose compared to the excellent Bibian poured alongside. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy, slightly dry tannin with a solid, quite structured and more classic finish. It is a Cru Bourgeois that does not quite know what it wants to be. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot. Delicious red fruit that seems more Merlot than Cabernet, with an openness and generosity that is very pleasing for a young bordeaux. Slightly stalky notes on the palate add some welcome complexity. Very finely sanded tannins, bright acidic finish – very likeable! (RH)
