I was very happy with the 2014 La Viña de Amalio, as it showed less ripe and a lot less oak than in previous vintages, getting closer to what I identify with the house style here, combining power and elegance. This is a textbook, old-vine Ribera del Duero, with its 5% white grapes as it was the norm in the old times. This comes from a vineyard planted in 1964, matured in new and used 225- and 500-liter oak barrels for 17 months. 2,548 bottles were filled in June 2016.
