Very attractive ripe cherries and supple tannins here, the acidity lifting the medium body very nicely and the mineral note at the finish adding interest. A blend of 80 per cent merlot and 20 per cent cabernet franc. Drink or hold.

The 2016 de Lussac is a racy, voluptuous wine. Sweet red cherry and plum fruit are nicely pushed forward. Succulent, silky and unctuous, the 2016 offers good balance to match its up-front personality. There is plenty of early appeal here.
The 2016 Chateau de Lussac, owned by Hervé Laviale and Griet Van Malderen Laviale, had a slightly bretty nose when I tasted it, although not excessively strong, just a tiny mushroom-like tincture. The palate is sweet and candied with very supple, almost soft tannin, tarry black fruit with a slightly short finish. Probably early drinking compared to others.
A firm and silky red with blackberry and blueberry character. Linear and firm tannins and a pretty finish. Lovely underlying acidity. Mar 2017, www.jamessuckling.com
