Sweet cassis nose. A bit stringy in texture, with some green notes. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2020-2025
The 2016 Croix-Mouton is a gorgeous wine from Jean-Philippe Janoueix. Inky and plush in the glass, with terrific freshness, the 2016 is a highly representative wine for a year that produced dense but vibrant wines. Crème de cassis, chocolate, spice and new leather inform the juicy finish in this tasty, succulent Bordeaux Supérieur. Tasted three times. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
The 2016 Croix Mouton has an attractive, perfumed, floral bouquet with crushed violet petals infusing the ripe black cherry and cassis fruit. I appreciate the elegance on display here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, well judged acidity, a pleasant saline and black olive note surfacing towards the fresh finish. This Bordeaux Superieur from Jean-Philippe Janoueix can often punch above its class and the 2016 is one of those. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com
