Energetic and stony with real energy and sap. Sinewy and absolutely classic for the appellation with real persistence. GV (JR)

A balanced and chewy young red with some berry and cherry character and a medium to light body. Fresh finish.
Dark and brooding in the glass, the 2016 Clauzet offers quite a bit of character. Smoke, gravel, game, spice and earthy notes add shades of complexity in this powerful Saint Estèphe that packs plenty of punch.
The 2016 Clauzet offers rich and opulent dark cherry and blueberry fruit on the nose, more floral than earthy compared to its peers, but with commendable delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry and I appreciate how those slightly rigid Saint Estèphe tannins provide the backbone here. It will need three of four years to mellow in the glass, but this has great potential.
