Tasting notes
The 2016 Le Dragon de Quintus is muddled and quite volatile on the nose, something conspicuous within this peer-group blind tasting. The palate is more controlled and balanced, the acidity commendable, spicier than its peers with decent depth on the smooth finish. I suspect that another bottle would have superior aromatics. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

The 2016 Dragon de Quintus has a fleshy, dried-blood-tinged bouquet that comes across more savory than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, but rather rustic at the moment, and it attenuates slightly toward the finish. More substance is required. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
The wine the trade has to buy if they want Haut-Brion. Tasted blind. Richly black-fruited. The fruit, for once, dominates the tannin. Pretty massive and burly but should not disappoint. Quite long. (JR)
