The 2016 Angludet is quite high-toned on the nose, with raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, moderate complexity, maybe missing a little charm. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannins, fine acidity, quite sweet at its core, though it lacks bandwidth on the finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

We are in rich powerful territory here, in line with what you hope from a 2016, and shows you don't have to go to classified estates to find it. Showcasing soft rose petals and peony on the aromatics, with touches of gunsmoke, raspberry, slate and liqourice. A little closed right now, austere even with clear tannic hold but it softens quickly, and is full of enjoyment. An extremely impressive Angludet, one that I would hold on to, suggest drinking the 2017 (not tasted in this lineup) or 2018 before this. Great stuff from co-owner and winemaker Benjamin Sichel.

A wine of impressive style and character, the 2016 D'Angludet exhibits a deep bouquet of cassis, blackberries, loamy soil, burning embers and violets, framed by a deft touch of classy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with excellent concentration, ripe tannins and a long, penetrating finish, it's the finest wine I've ever tasted from this Margaux property.

The 2016 d’Angludet has a very open, fleshy, red berry nose that is missing some complexity and feels a little monochromatic compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, fleshy but undemanding for a Margaux. This showed much better 12 months ago, so I will leave a question mark instead of a score. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting.
