Tasting notes
This is dense and juicy showing lots of fruit and alcohol. Full body, lots of velvety tannins and a savory finish. Mar 2017, www.jamessuckling.com

The 2016 Lucia, a full-throttle and unapologetically sumptuous Saint-Émilion, is a fabulous example of this style. Layers of succulent dark cherry, spice, espresso and mocha build into the rich, opulent finish. Readers should expect a big wine built on ripeness and breadth. Made with 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, aged in 40% new oak. Stéphane Derenoncourt is the consultant. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
The 2016 Lucia is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc cropped at 28 hectoliters per hectare matured on 40% new oak. It has a clean and precise bouquet with black cherries, blueberry and just a touch of reduction that will blow away with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, spicy in the mouth with a dash of white pepper on the well defined and refined finish that does not shortchange on fruit.
