Deep gold. Very lifted, cool, savoury/lemony nose. Much racier than most 2009 white burgundies, and richer than this bottling usually is. A most attractive lemon sherbet note but real breadth on the palate. Smoky top note. No obvious oak. Lovely current drinking – though I wouldn't hold it for that much longer. Nicely faint chalky chew on the end. Bone dry and sophisticated. Not trying to be Meursault; presented on its own terms. Quite persistent. (JR)

Medium red. Liqueur-like ripeness to the red cherry and rose aromas. Then juicy and fruity in the mouth, with intriguing notes of spices, flower and espresso. Finishes with an oily richness but also a hint of dryness and plenty of stony character. (I preferred this to the Bourgogne , which was peppery and less ripe.)
500-litre barrels and 49% new. In tank at the moment, to be filtered mid Nov. Lively, lemony and real substance – richer than most vintages. Could be very good in 2009! Racy and yet with enough life, precise and with medium length. (JR)
