Tasting notes
Coming from a single vineyard in Marananga, the 2010 Zippy’s Block Shiraz has a deep purple-black color and very intense black fruit compote nose with nuances of Szechuan pepper, charcoal, fertile loam, anise and sauteed Provence herbs. Very full bodied, big and richly fruited in the mouth, it has a medium level of velvety tannins and refreshing acid, finishing with great persistence. Approachable now, it should drink to 2024+. A stunning, prodigious Shiraz, the 2010 Two Hands Shiraz Zippys Block Maranaga boasts knockout aromatics of blackberry liqueur, ground pepper, bacon fat, lavender, and tobacco leaf to go with a full-bodied, thrillingly concentrated palate. With an almost Cayuse like wildness and gamey quality, as well as impeccable balance, juicy acidity, and ripe tannic structure, this rock star Shiraz should continue to positively evolve with 2-4 years of bottle age, and have upwards of two decades or more of longevity.
