Tasting notes
The 2013 Syrah Vellutini Ranch is more opulent, and has a more opaque purple color as well as a sweet, gorgeous nose of blueberries, black berries and flowers. It is meaty, rich, and again, is a substantial mouthful of Syrah that makes one wonder why Syrahs aren’t flying off the shelves, given their quality.

The 2013 Syrah Vellutini Ranch has an almost Zinfandel-like richness to it. Dark red and black stone fruits, mint, wild flowers, spices and sweet tobacco race across the palate. Exuberant and racy, but with all of the freshness that is typical of the year here, the Vellutini Ranch captures all of the flamboyance the Martinellis are known for.
About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
