Tasting notes
True to the grape and the vintage, the 2014 Chianti Classico reveals simple fruit flavors of white cherry and red currant. There is pressed violet and freshly milled white pepper as well. The wine shows fresh acidity and a snappy, easy-drinking style. The blend is 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo-Ciliegiolo-Colorono aged in large oak casks for 12 months. Some 140,000 bottles are produced. Tuscan red wine does not get more traditional than this.

Gaiole in Chianti. Quite pale crimson. Soft and perfumed, with some spicy cherry fruit and hints of iron. Lightly built with refreshing acidity. Pretty and ready now. (WS)
Lovely lifted fragrance, pure and vibrant marzipan cherry fruit with a cinnamon spice and gorgeous forest floor character. Extremely good – a flagbearer for Chianti. (RH)
