The exuberance and depth of 2015 is found in abundance here, with red and black fruits, touches of fig and pomegranate, velvety and supple in texture. Firm but fine slate tannins, and lots of them, suggesting this will age well. It's balanced, super enjoyable with plenty of grip. Harvest September 28 to October 15. The 2015 Marquis d'Alesme Becker was opulent a year ago, but now it has evolved a more reserved, Pauillac-like bouquet of delineated black fruit laced with graphite and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, good grip and fine acidity, fresh in the mouth and displaying surprising density and persistence on the finish. Still a superb Margaux with good aging potential. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
Tasted blind. Heady floral notes and one of the fattest palates there is in 2015! Relatively dramatic. (JR)
About the producer
The estate dates back to 1585 and has been producing wine on the property since the early 17th century. In the 1855 classification the Chateau was awarded Third Growth status.
