The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Tête du Clos 1er Cru has a very attractive bouquet of white peach, honeysuckle and hints of black currant leaf, the oak neatly entwined and maintaining impressive delineation. The palate is well defined and a little oaky at the moment, but there is undoubtedly sufficient fruit behind to absorb that. I appreciate the tension interwoven throughout this Chassagne-Montrachet and the tang of salinity and spiciness on the finish, completing an excellent wine. (sulfited ten days before my visit; these old vines produced small berries and a yield of just 18 hectoliters per hectare in 2015): Enticing aromas of ripe peach and apple, musky hazelnut and sexy spices. Fat, silky and utterly seamless, with its richness nicely counterpointed by well-integrated acidity. A serious mouthful of wine with a long, spicy, lightly dusty finish.
