The 2015 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has perhaps the most exotic bouquet of eight Les Perrières tasted blind, yet there is purity and charm as those apricot, passion fruit and light citrus notes explode from the glass. The palate is rounded on the entry. This is a voluminous, mouth-filling Les Perrières with no hard edges. The plush tropical fruit toward the finish does not really convey the grip and mineralité of the vineyard. Thoroughly enjoyable, but not the best in show, especially if you want to experience the terroir . Given its performance out of barrel, it might have just not performed on the day. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

(from mostly very old vines): Bright medium yellow. Aromas of ripe pineapple, yellow peach, crushed stone and hazelnut smell rich but fresh. Thick and opulent on the palate, conveying a seamless texture and a sexy sweetness to its mineral-driven pineapple and stone flavors. The sweet, oaky finish shows a slightly bitter pineappley edge. This wine is already quite sexy but is not at all an extreme style of 2015 and will need time in bottle to express its inherent complexity.

The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru les Perrieres, which comes from two parcels including 20% adjacent to Clos des Perrières and the remainder in Perrières-Dessus, has an attractive bouquet with citrus peel, a hint of licorice and spice, just a little fieriness underneath the surface. The palate is very composed on the entry, the acidity extremely well judged and it builds nicely in the mouth towards a very flattering, lightly spiced, quite structured finish. Perhaps it does not quite deliver the mineral drive of the previous vintage, however, it has a sense of refinement and the persistence is impressive.
