Score 89/100 · Drink 2020-2030, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2018

The 2015 Bourgogne Pressonnier, one of Domaine Joseph Roty's emblematic wines, is very successful this vintage, opening in the glass with a bouquet featuring aromas of red berries, black cherry, espresso roast and rich soil—with appreciably more complexity than the regular Bourgogne Rouge. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and taut, with a serious chassis of chalky tannin. This is beginning to shut down in bottle and will benefit from a few years in the cellar, but it is an excellent Bourgogne.

Medium red. Alluring aromas and flavors of red fruits lifted by rose petal and violet. Intensely flavored for its humble appellation, showing a complicating saline element and good energy for the year. Finishes with ripe tannins. An excellent Bourgogne, with the added thickness of the 2015 vintage.

Bright, dark red. Lively scents of black fruits, licorice and menthol. Juicy, intense, seriously rich Bourgogne with a medicinal reserve to its black fruit and licorice flavors. Finishes firm and persistent. From vines on the other side of the Route Nationale, not far from the premier cru portion of Pressonnier.

(25% new oak and from vines of 45+ years of age; until 1994 this was classified as Gevrey villages). Discreet wood influence frames the super-fresh aromas of extract of red and black cherry, plum, violet and ample earth nuances. There is a lovely mouth feel to the attractively delineated and vibrant middle weight flavors that conclude in a firm, rustic and serious finale that delivers outstanding depth and length for the genre. This is a first-rate Bourgogne and highly recommended though it’s also one that will require at least a few years of cellaring. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
