Score 85-87/100 · Drink 2019-2024, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016
The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Les Mariages has a simple bouquet with lifted, crushed strawberry that needs more cohesion and complexity to show through. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, good acidity, but it feels rather rustic compared to other Beaune premier crus and certainly needs to develop more finesse on the finish.

A discreet application of wood sits behind the equally earthy but spicier red cherry and dark currant scents. There is bit more size and weight as well as slightly more mid-palate concentration to the seductively textured flavors that are supported by somewhat firmer tannins but even so, this should drink well young.
