Score 95+/100 · Drink 2025-2045, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2018

One of the highlights in this range, the 2015 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is super-expressive. Readers should plan on giving the 2015 at least a few years to shed some of its considerable baby fat. Today, the dark cherry/plum fruit is nicely pushed forward, while there is little in the way of aromatic development. This is decidedly a virile dense expression of Clos Vougeot, and yet all the elements are very nicely balanced. The 2015 is a total knock-out from Remoissenet.

The 2015 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru comes from a 0.5-hectare parcel close to the south wall next to Liger-Belair, Rion, Lemarie and Lamarche. It has a very pure and sensual bouquet with dark cherries, crushed strawbery and hints of cassis all with very fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannins, great depth and body with a gentle grip on the finish. This is a Clos Vougeot from the top drawer.

Saturated ruby. The blackest nose of the Remoissenet 2015s, offering scents of kirsch , blackberry, cassis, licorice and wild herbs. Hugely dense and enticingly sweet; medicinal in a ripe Clos Vougeot way, with nothing rustic or clunky about it. Finishes very long and balanced, with powerful, fully ripe tannins, a captivating note of dark chocolate, and terrific lift for such a fat sucker. This very pure, edge-free wine will last for a very long time. Remoissenet makes its Clos Vougeot from a single estate parcel that it began farming in 2006. A great showing.
