Score 93-95/100 · Drink 2020-2040, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Apr 2017

From two parcels in the grand cru, the larger parcel around 75 years old, the 2015 Charmes Chambertin has a sensual, intense bouquet with dark cherry fruit, blueberry, incense and violet—very Charmes-Chambertin. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black and red fruit on the entry, hints of salted licorice and spice with a grippy finish that is quite Mazoyeres in style. This is another superb 2015 red from Remoissenet.

(Remoissenet's vines are situated at the northern extreme of Charmes, according to Rovani; 70% new oak): Deep ruby-red. Musky, reduced aromas of cherry tart and spices, with a strong element of new oak. Then very plush, ripe and very concentrated, displaying lovely inner-mouth lift to its purple fruit and violet flavors. Consistent from start to rising finish, with the ripe tannins reaching the teeth. These pinot fin vines produce tiny clusters, Rovani noted.
