Tasting notes
Healthy dark red. Very tight, cooler nose suggests blackberry, licorice and menthol. Supple and broad but a bit muted on the palate, with its dark berry and espresso flavors spreading out nicely to saturate the mouth. In spite of its touch of sweetness, this very primary wine needs time in the cellar to express its full personality. This wine was similarly backward from bottle a year ago but today it's more pliant from bottle.

Deep ruby-red. Still a touch of malic tartness to the extremely youthful aromas of black cherry, licorice and mint. Dense, tactile and savory, boasting excellent concentration and carry-through to its very pure black cherry, blackberry and licorice flavors. Ultimately sweet and pliant, not to mention quite concentrated, this Beaune premier cru finishes with ripe tannins and excellent length. I suspect it will give pleasure on the early side.
