The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Village has a sensual bouquet with mulberry and slightly gamey aromas that are nicely defined. There is a gourmand quality to this village cru. The palate is medium-bodied and marked by a fine line of acidity. Compact at the moment with good focus, the red merging into more blacker fruit towards the crisp finish. Enjoy this over the next 4-6 years.

Cask sample. Blend of 11 vineyards. ‘First vintage was 2006 and it’s taken us 10 years to get where we want to be.’ Deep crimson. Very intense nose. Easy, round, energetic palate. Even a little gassy. Good liveliness on the finish. (JR)

(20% of this fruit comes from the top of the slope, which Liger-Belair says brings limestone freshness): Bright ruby-red. Blackberry, roast coffee and smoke on the nose. Dense and round, offering a velvety texture and good stuffing for village wine. Very ripe but nicely leavened by smoky minerality. In a softer style, finishing with ripe tannins. This is almost ready to be racked; indeed, Liger-Belair planned to bottle it before Christmas.

The generic Vosne-Romanee is really showing of in this vintage. The bouquet offer juicy red and dark berry fruit .. expressive and quite floral with a wide range of Vosne spices. On the palate very juicy – with a fine concentration for this level – generous mid-palate focused by a fresh almost citrusy acidity. This cuvée is improving year after year and is now a wine in it’s own right – and not completely overshadowed by the two lieu-dits. Jun 2016, www.winehog.org
