Score 92+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2018

Dark ruby-red. Complex but less fruity on the nose than the Damodes, conveying a strong soil character to its aromas of cassis, licorice and coffee; at once roasted in its ripeness and youthfully medicinal. Dense, thick and primary, conveying an impression of power but also good definition to its dark berry, chocolate and saline mineral flavors. The serious tannins are nicely enrobed by the wine's huge material. This wine conveys an almost port-like richness in the early going and will need time in bottle to absorb some of its baby fat.

Bright red-ruby color. Tighter and less perfumed on the nose than the Damodes, hinting at medicinal black cherry. Supple and creamy on entry, then tighter and less pliant in the middle, displaying more saline minerality than fruit sweetness in the early going. This penetrating wine will require at least five or six years of patience upon release.

A slightly more deeply pitched nose is composed of liqueur-like black fruit, violet, forest floor and earth aromas. There is excellent richness to the powerful and robust big-bodied flavors that possess impressive density on the sleekly muscled and powerful finish. This notably firm effort isn’t especially refined but there’s plenty of punch and length and here too I would advise allowing at least 6 to 8 years of cellaring. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
