Score 93-95/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Dec 2016
(Saouma has three barrels from three sources "all over the Clos"): Healthy ruby-red. Very ripe, sexy aromas of raspberry, earth and smoke. Then quite tightly wound and powerful on the palate, showing spicy and saline elements but no easy sweetness. A classic young Clos de la Roche: dry and imploded, in a distinctly rocky style. Even more masculine in the early going than the Clos Saint-Denis and yet this wine already communicates outstanding dimension.
