The 2015 Hautes Côtes de Nuits, which comes from 18-year-old vines, offers crunchy dark berry fruit on the nose mixed with a touch of cola and a hint of seaweed. The palate is fresh on the entry with quite firm tannin, plenty of dark berry fruit, although it just needs to develop more cohesion on the finish.

Still on lees. Quite rich and round. Lots of smooth, ripe fruit without much acidity. For early consumption. (JR)

(tasted from tank): Moderately saturated medium red. High-pitched aromas and flavors of raspberry, flowers, crushed herbs and orange peel, plus a hint of leather. Sweet and seamless in the mouth, combining a slightly medicinal herbal quality with good fleshiness. Finishes with voluptuous tannins for its appellation, without any hint of dryness. (I loved the penetrating red raspberry and rocky mineral aromas of the Bourgogne Rouge but this wine has less flesh to support its tannins.)

A markedly ripe nose displays notes of plum, violet and dark cherry that leads to rich and relatively full-bodied flavors in the context of what is typical for the appellation though the finish is soft and a bit flat. Perhaps it was just the day but this lacked vibrancy. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
