Mid crimson. Firm confident nose. Well-balanced red cherry fruit with fine, well-managed tannins. Really quite a step up from their premiers crus. Polished and already showing off its ripe fruit. Good balance. (JR)

The 2015 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a beautiful bouquet with crushed violet aromas infusing the blueberry and black cherry fruit, hints of blood orange emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a little chewiness on the entry. There is good density and weight here with fresh dark cherries and blackcurrant, though I would like to see more finesse and precision come through on the finish to compete with the exemplars from this vineyard.

(from a .52 ha parcel in En la Chapelle). Discreet but not invisible wood sets off an attractively layered nose that features notes of plum, anise, violet, earth and a beguiling array of spice elements. There is a caressing mouth feel to the rich, round and delicious middle weight plus flavors that tighten up significantly on the serious and youthfully austere finish that makes clear that this will not be an especially good candidate for early drinking.
