Moderately saturated bright red. Subtler on the nose than the Champeaux, showing a penetrating perfume to the aromas of raspberry liqueur and flowers. Plush, sweet and stuffed with red berries, spices and dried flowers, offering outstanding volume while maintaining its shape and avoiding any impression of heaviness. Quite spherical in the middle palate, then suave on the back end, finishing with late-arriving fine-grained tannins and resounding length. (This is a blend of Charmes and Mazoyères, from two different owners.)

Offering more floral, violet, blueberry and blackberry notes, the 2015 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is vibrant and fresh on the palate, with notable, yet integrated acidity and a gorgeous sense of rocky minerality that’s only more evident due to the slightly higher acidity. This is a juicy, firm, chiseled 2015 that has terrific purity and fine, yet present tannin, and needs 3-5 years of cellaring.

100% new oak. Dark garnet. Rich and seductive on the nose. Truly very charming although with the firmness of Gevrey underneath. Well done. It has the lift of whole bunch on the end. (JR)

Deep, bright red with ruby tones. Rather wild, alluring scents of raspberry, violet and earth. Juicy purple fruit flavors show lovely sucrosité and a very fine-grained texture. Finishes with suave tannins, lovely class and lingering perfume. Bernstein works with one supplier of Charmes and one of Mazoyères, combining the two components in the fermentation tank.
