Ripe but almost mute on the nose. Powerful and concentrated on the palate, showing fresh yellow stone fruit and clove flavors along with a honeyed quality, a suggestion of oily ripeness and notes of marzipan and saline minerals. There's no easy sweetness here but no edges or austerity either. Has the supple texture, richness and density of the vintage's finer examples but is not showing much today. This big, rich yet balanced wine, very much in the style of the year, still needs a bit of refining. Barnier noted that the yield here was very low due to a difficult flowering.

The 2015 Montrachet Grand Cru has a potent nose with dried honey and blackberry leaf, orange blossom and cold stone developing in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, viscous, almost waxy in texture with decent weight on the finish, although this year I find that the Chevalier-Montrachet is in possession of more personality and race.
