Tasting notes
Prunotto’s 2007 Barbaresco Classico is a beautiful, radiant wine graced with exquisite inner perfume and beautifully delineated dark red fruit. The wine gains mid-palate sweetness, finishing with gorgeous intensity. This is a terrific, harmonious Barbaresco from Prunotto. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. Neive-Treiso-Barbaresco. Very pale, orange tinged. Vegetal sweet nose, horse saddle as well. Herbal fruit palate. Doubtful this will develop from the ugly-duckling stage it is in. (WS)
Medium red. Enticing aromas of strawberry, cherry and shoe polish. Clean, bright and fruity but youthfully restrained, with bright acidity and a firm tannic spine calling for patience. Nicely balanced Barbaresco with very good length. "My style of nebbiolo," says Torrengo, adding that this wine always begins its life less open and perfumed than the Occhetti nebbiolo, because that wine is from sandier soil. "The Barbaresco starts with a better balance between the nose and the palate," notes Torrengo.
