Tasted blind, the 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Demoiselles performed extremely well, offering up a reserved bouquet of white flowers, preserved citrus, toasted nuts and oak vanillin. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, powerful and very concentrated, with a deep, multidimensional mid-palate, racy acids and a long, saline finish. This is carrying quite an overt framing of new wood, but it's a seriously structured and beautifully balanced Chevalier-Montrachet that will warmly reward patience. It's bottled under Diam 30.

Pale, bright yellow. Pure but very restrained aromas of pineapple and lemon oil. Very ripe but light on its feet, conveying excellent lift and definition to its flavors of white peach, lemon and dusty stone. Offers outstanding purity and cut without any weight, not to mention alcoholic harshness. This utterly seamless, silky wine was shy and tight from the beginning and is still a baby. But despite its early austerity, it nicely showcases its balance and energy already. I'm not sure I would easily have identified the vintage as 2015.

Tank sample. Sold out. Minty note on the nose and what seems like a slight lack of density on the palate. Very restrained and it may all come together, but it’s all over the place at the moment. Very chewy end – still awkward. (JR)
